From Jervis Bay to Eden

We left Jervis Bay at 5am on Tuesday, January 5th. It was a lonely day at sea. We only saw one other boat the whole day! We presume these guys were on their way home from the Sydney to Hobart...

We spent 15 hours at sea that day. There was a lot of swell and it was pretty stormy all day. We decided to stay further out from the coast to avoid the coastal swell which meant we missed seeing everyone in the George Bass Surfboat Marathon...which was a little disappointing as I had friends in the Pambula Women's team. They had tough conditions poor things!

We arrived in Twofold Bay about 8pm and there was nowhere to tie up. Lots of Sydney to Hobart boats but no one was interested in letting us raft up to them. We called Eden Marine Rescue and asked if we could raft up to one of the Tug Boats but they said they did not have the authority to approve that but were happy we were safely in Twofold Bay and left it at that??

So raft up to the Tug Boat Cooma we did and picked up Ayla's bestie from her old school in Merimbula - the lovely Marlee Ahmat! So great that they are still such fabulous mates. Marlee stayed the night on board and when we woke the next morning we were lucky enough to have the captain of the Tug Boat Cooma, Chris, come and meet us and let us know he was happy for us to stay there as long as we liked! Phew!

We had plenty more vistors the next day, including Geoff Bills and his son Zachii, Pete and Anne Brannelley, Lizzy Hall and Jason Binns and their kids Khai and Lilly, Sue Ellen and Warrick Yates and Tom Peters who was coming to sail down to Lakes Entrance with us.

Look how tiny we look next to the Tug Boat Cooma!!!
