Provisioning the boat! We're off again :)

Yesterday, it was 12 months ago exactly that Pete headed north last Christmas holidays and Ayla and I joined him in Sydney for our first big adventure on Gradiva. Today, we provisioned the boat, ready for him to set sail again tomorrow. He will be joined this time by his son Fergus (pictured above with Ayla), Ferg's best mate from Merimbula Ned Brannelly, Ned's Dad Pete and a mate of his. The five of them will head off to Eden tomorrow and then keep heading north until Ayla and I finish school and bus it up to Batemans Bay to meet them.

We will continue to sail north until we run out of school holidays. We plan to leave Gradiva at Nelson Bay, where she will come out of the water for three months while we come back for school...

It's been a busy 12 months for Pete and Gradiva. If there were any working parts that Pete didn't know, he pretty much pulled them apart and re-built them just so he knows how they do work!

We had the foresail mended (the image below shows some of the damage)...all fixed now though!

We took the front furler off which involved whinching Pete Brannelly up the mast a couple of times - once to take it off in June and then again in September to put it back on!

While the front furler was off we took Gradiva out of the water to give her hull a clean and polish!

Pete completely re-built the front furling gearbox drive...this was a huge process that involved many stages, including the video below which was pretty cool to watch:

There were so many other jobs, big and small, including getting the fridge fixed, fixing the horn (where this time I whinched my Pete up the mast!), even polishing the Gradiva bell and buying a new plotter:

Gradiva is now kitted up and ready to set sail again...yay!
